UV Hour

What to include

Two lines are usually enough, but these save a round trip: the city the app or the site showed you, your skin type setting, the date and time it happened, and — if it is about a purchase — the date and which plan. Screenshots help more than descriptions.

Reporting an error in the numbers

This is the one we most want to hear about. The whole model is published on the method page: the formula, the constants, the source of each figure and its licence. If something there is wrong — a dose, a coefficient, a threshold applied where it should not be — point at it and we will correct it rather than defend it. Corrections to a site about sun exposure are not a nuisance, they are the job.

Common questions

The site shows the wrong city

The website works out where you are from your network connection, not from your device, so a VPN, a mobile network or a corporate connection can place you in another city entirely. If the page says it is showing London, it means it could not read a usable location at all. The iPhone app asks your device instead and is accurate to the kilometre.

No window is shown for my skin type

That is an answer, not a failure. It means the UV where you are never sits inside the range the site looks for today — either it stays too low to do anything, or it stays above the level at which your skin type would have under 40 minutes before redness. On strong summer days, the fairest skin types often get a morning slot and an evening slot with nothing usable in between.

A number here looks wrong

Tell us. Every constant and every step of the arithmetic is published on the method page, so a disagreement can be settled by pointing at the line that is wrong. Errors about skin and sun exposure are worth more to us than compliments, and they get fixed first.

How do I cancel a subscription?

From your Apple ID subscription settings on your iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, UV Hour. The app cannot cancel on your behalf. Cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the period you already paid for running to its end.

How do I get a refund?

Apple takes the payment and Apple issues the refund, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We hold no payment details and have no way to refund a purchase ourselves. If the reason is that the app did something wrong, tell us as well so it gets fixed.

I paid but Pro is not unlocked

Open the paywall screen in the app and use Restore. Purchases are tied to the Apple ID that bought them, so check you are signed in with the same one. If it still does not unlock, email us with the date of purchase and we will work it out.

How do I delete my data?

There is nothing to delete on the website: no account, no cookie, no record of your visit. In the app, your skin profile, settings and history live on your device only — deleting the app removes them. The privacy page explains what our hosting and forecast providers keep, which is the part we do not control.
